Aspiring actress, 30, diagnosed with brain tumor after homeless man punched her is hit by a car

An aspiring actress has been dubbed the ‘unluckiest woman in the world’ after she was attacked by a homeless man who broke her jaw, diagnosed with a brain tumor and hit by a car on her way to radiation therapy.

Alli McLaren, 30, describes the ‘series of unfortunate events’ that left her with a traumatic brain injury and two broken feet in a now viral TikTok video.

‘I’m the friend that lives that “Can’t catch a break lifestyle,”‘ McLaren, a Los Angeles resident originally from Australia, tells viewers in a clip that has garnered 1.6million views.

She explains in the video that her life started to take a turn for the worse in October 2021, when a homeless man assaulted her in the City of Angels.

McLaren was a social butterfly at the time, with many friends who enjoyed going out in the city and having fun. But when she walked back from Starbucks on her last day of what she described as a ‘toxic job,’ the TikTok star was punched in the head by a homeless man.

Alli McLaren, 30, described in a recent TikTok the ‘series of unfortunate events’ that left her with a traumatic brain injury, cancer and two broken feet

‘He walked across the road, and I saw him out of the corner of my eye,’ she told Media Drum. ‘He punched through my phone, which broke from the impact and I fell over. It all happened in about two seconds.’

She said she sought medical attention at an urgent care facility in West Hollywood, where doctors told her she had a concussion but ‘looked fine’ and dismissed her concerns.

But she started to feel jaw pain a month later, and a dentist confirmed her jaw was fractured from the attack.

McLaren said in a video posted in June that the dentist originally told her it would heal on its own. But three months later, she said, she was in ‘more pain than ever and can’t eat solid food.’

At that point, she said, she sought another opinion from a different dentist who took another X-ray which showed the fracture was even worse than it was before.

After attempts to wire her jaw back in place failed, the New York Post reports, she was forced to wait another two months before getting oral surgery to fix the fracture.

McLaren explained in the now-viral TikTok: ‘I had to get jaw surgery to fix it, and my immune system was super weak and I ended up getting an infection and pneumonia.’

During that bout with pneumonia, the Post reports, she fell and hit her head, causing a Traumatic Brain Injury which spurred back-to-back seizures.

She received treatment for the seizures, but soon she started to experience more seizures, vomiting and mood changes — having unexplainable anger and confusion.

Ultimately, the doctors discovered she had a noncancerous giant cell tumor growing in her brain.

From there, her TikTok shows, she was in and out of the hospital. One video from January showed she was spending $43,000 a month on medical bills and rent.

And when she went to get radiation treatment at a local hospital just last month, she was run over by a driver who failed to brake at a stop sign.

The accident left her with two broken feet.

Online, some TikTok users praised the homeless man for landing the blow that ultimately led to the discovery of the tumor.

One commentator wrote: ‘Okay, but the homeless guy kinda saved your life??’ The comment received over 43,000 likes.

But McLaren says she doesn’t agree.

‘Although it would be a great story for the homeless man, the only thing he’s done is cause me a lot of stress and medical bills,’ she said, explaining: ‘The timing of everything doesn’t work for him to have helped me discover the tumor, as it wasn’t there when I was originally hit.’

In fact, she suggests, the homeless man may have even caused all of his problems over the last few years.

‘Although the cause for this type of tumor is unknown, a possible explanation I’ve been given is that it may be the result of head trauma, so he may have even caused it.’

Despite it all, McLaren manages to remain positive, even joking in a recent TikTok

Making matters worse, her medical struggles have been compounded by new mental and emotional health issues.

‘I have really struggled to be honest,’ she said. ‘I’ve had both depression and anxiety.

‘I also get really uncomfortable walking near people on the street because I don’t trust anyone,’ McLaren revealed, before saying she ‘got demoted… because I had to work from home so much and I ended up leaving after that, so financially it’s been a strain.’

And she said, ‘I have nowhere near as many friends as I used to.

‘I stopped responding to messages and stopped showing up at places,’ she explained. ‘A lot of the time I’m super tired and just have no energy.

‘I used to be super social and now I just have a hard time leaving my house.’

At times, McLaren said, she will randomly become angry, which has distanced her from many of her friends.

She said now only has her ‘tolerant’ friends and family members who aren’t easily offended by her behavior.

But through it all, McLaren remains positive, even joking recently on TikTok that nothing bad has happened to her since she was hit by a car last month.

‘I think I stay strong by knowing it can’t be like this forever and also knowing that one day I’m going to wake up and I won’t be in pain anymore,’ she said.

‘I do believe that everything happens for a reason. I am hoping to maybe one day write a book about it and keep using my platform to talk about chaotic life.’

McLaren added that she believes all of these trials have made her stronger.

‘We don’t choose our lives and what happens to us, but we do choose how to take what happens to us and make it into something beautiful.’

Taylor Lautner recalls Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift embraces Taylor Lautner at the 2009 VMAs moments before Kanye West’s hiatus
Photo: Kevin Mazur (Getty Images)

Within the Taylor Swift cinematic universe, there are two main categories of supporting players: her long list of ex-lovers and her (possibly longer?) list of enemies. Taylor Lautner belongs to the former category, but you may have forgotten he was actually a first-hand witness in the most significant event in the latter. Yes, Swift’s ex-boyfriend was actually the one to present her with the prize at the infamous awards ceremony in which Kanye West jumped on the stage.

In a TikTok excerpt from their new podcast, Lautner was asked by his wife (also named Taylor, just to add some confusion to the tale) what moment in his life he’d return to if he could. He chose the 2009 VMAs, citing that he was “unaware” that the interruption was “not a skit.”

“I presented the award to her, so I gave her the award. I took five steps back and was standing five feet behind her. And yeah, in the middle of her giving her thank you speech, Kanye jumps up onto the stage,” he explained. “I can barely hear it. I can’t see them. I’m just assuming this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit, because why else would Kanye West be jumping on the stage interrupting Taylor Swift? It just didn’t make sense.”

“If you look back at it, I’m actually caught laughing and like, giggling at it. I’m like, ‘I can’t hear them, but this is probably really funny right now,’” Lautner admits. “He jumped off. She finished. The second she turned back around and I saw her face for the first time, I was like, ‘Oh. No. …That wasn’t good.’”

Lautner must be forgiven for not realizing his lady friend needed a knight in shining armor at that moment. After all, just last year saw another shocking awards show interruption that many audience members, both present and watching from home, didn’t realize was unscripted until Chris Rock himself confirmed it. The times when celebrities veer from the pre-planned script tend to take on a surreal and almost mythological quality looking back at it.

Such is true for the 2009 VMAs: it made an indelible mark on pop culture at large and on the careers of the two artists at the center of the scandal. Swift sweetly immortalized her relationship with Lautner (“Back To December”) and the event itself (“Innocent”) on her Speak Now album, but her later lyrical nods to Ye developed a bitter, even vengeful edge. Ye, meanwhile, kickstarted a villain arc that has since reached disturbing new heights. If Lautner could go back in time to that moment, one wonders how he might change things—and how different the pop culture landscape might be as a result.

Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard was ‘really proud’ when he learned Noah Schnapp came out as gay

Finn Wolfhard revealed that he couldn’t have been happier upon learning that his friend and costar Noah Schnapp had come out as gay.

The 20-year-old Stranger Things star admitted that he had a ‘big smile on my face’ after hearing the news while chatting with GQ for a profile published on Wednesday.

Finn and Noah, 18, are both part of the main cast of the massively popular Netflix science fiction–horror series, which began airing on the streamer in 2016.

The actor’s eyes reportedly ‘soften[ed]’ after his friend Noah’s coming out post on TikTok was mentioned.

‘When I saw it, I just had a big smile on my face,’ Finn said. ‘I was just really proud of him.’

Supportive pal: Finn Wolfhard, 20, said he was ‘really proud’ of his costar Noah Schnapp, 18, when the Stranger Things actor came out as gay last month; seen in December in NYC

Noah’s character Will Byers was initially just a recurring character in the first season, as he was abducted into the deadly alternate dimension known as the ‘Upside Down.’

He later joined the main cast starting with the second season, which saw him take on a more prominent role in the ensemble.

Back in January, Noah announced that he was gay in a TikTok video, though he joked that the news wasn’t exactly a surprise to his loved ones.

‘When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was “we know,”‘ he wrote in his caption.

In the video, he added, ‘I guess I’m more similar to Will Byers than I thought!’

Fans of Stranger Things had long suspected that his character was intended to be gay, based on hints that he was infatuated with Finn’s character Mike Wheeler.

Last year, Noah confirmed the fan theory to Variety, even as it became clearer in later seasons.

‘Obviously, it was hinted at in Season 1 — It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing,’ he said.

‘Now it’s 100 percent clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc.’

In his GQ interview, Finn said he and Noah were close enough to be like family members after years of shooting Stranger Things together.

That closeness meant that the two didn’t necessarily need to chat every day to still be important parts of each other’s lives.

‘We’re not on everyday-text vibes in any way, and not because… it’s like…’ he said, pausing as he searched for the right way to express himself.

‘Do you text your cousins every day? Probably not. They’re our family,’ he started to explain. ‘We’ll talk about each other’s birthdays. We’ll talk once in a while. But in the same way that family works, if I ever needed anything, they’re there.’

Finn added that, ‘Everyone’s on their own quests in real life,’ as he compared the actors’ need to make a name for themselves with the fracturing of the friend group on Stranger Things.

Finn also had kind words for his veteran costar Winona Ryder, who plays Noah’s mother on the series and is a regular fixture in the lives of the main cast.

Finn joked that she is ‘one of the funniest texters ever, because she’ll text you and then you’ll text her back and then she won’t text you ever again.’

‘She’ll text you whatever, say something like, “Oh, have you ever seen this movie?” And I’ll be like, “No, I haven’t. How are you?” And then just, nothing, ‘he said with a laugh.

But she was also a receptacle for important culture knowledge.

Finn noted that ‘she dated Dave Grohl and MCA from Beastie Boys, and all these people. I could literally ask her what it was like knowing Kurt Cobain, and she just tells me everything. It’s crazy.’

Nowadays, though, Winona lives a reserved life and mostly shuns the spotlight, despite being in one of the most popular television shows of the moment.

‘She is awesome too, because she just lives with her partner at her house. She doesn’t go out,’ Finn added. ‘She’s a homebody and doesn’t care about being relevant either. She just wants to be fulfilled.’

The song enjoyed a revitalization thanks to the Netflix hit series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega.

In episode four of the streaming series, Jenna’s character Wednesday is wearing a black gown as she does a wild dance to the song Goo Goo Muck by The Cramps at a school dance.

The dance Jenna did went viral on TikTok but with a different song than the one played in the film.

Instead of Goo Goo Muck going viral, Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary was used in videos shared on the social media app.

It led to the song, which was released in 2011, to enjoy a resurgence – despite not being played in the series.

In December 2022, Jenner revealed that her now-viral dance only took her two days to choreograph.

She revealed the interesting detail during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

‘He was like, “I know you got it, you’ve been working on it, I’m not even worried about it. I trust you.” And I said, “Oh, yeah. You know, it’s all so good.”‘

During her appearance on the show, Jenna added that she hadn’t practiced at all.

‘I had not gone over it all. I was doing cello that week, fencing that week. I just didn’t have the time… Oh my God, I was kicking myself. I felt like such a fool,’ she said.

Jenna added that she watched ‘just anything I could get my hands’ to get some inspiration for what she should do for the dance.

‘I’m not a dancer. I don’t do any of that. I have no experience in that field. I didn’t sleep for two days. I watched videos of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Denis Lavant in Beau Travail,’ she explained.

‘I found archival footage of goth kids dancing in the clubs in the ’80s. Lene Lovich, Nina Hagen. And then, on the day, I thought, “All right, let’s see what happens, ‘she said on the late night show.

‘Reverse Diet’ Is Not a Weight Loss Cheat Code

Photo: Lolostock (Shutterstock)

To hear the TikTok girlies tell it, there’s a hack that will let you EAT MORE FOOD! While NOT GAINING WEIGHT! And it’s great if you are SICK OF DIETING! Never mind that one can achieve all those goals by a simple trick called “not dieting anymore.” No, it needs a name and a strict protocol: reverse dieting.

The basic idea of reverse dieting is that you slowly add a few more calories to your diet every week. So s you normally maintain your weight on 2,000 calories per day, but you’ve been eating 1,500 calories to lose weight. You might then “reverse diet” by eating 1,600 calories a day next week, 1,700 calories a day the week after that, and so on. Eventually you’ll be back up to 2,000 calories, or maybe even more.

This is not a trend that originated on TikTok. The term seems to have come from bodybuilders, whose sport requires that they engage in extreme cycles of bulking (gaining weight to gain muscle mass) and cutting (losing as much fat as possible before stepping on a stage). While the process can create dazzling physiques, it also fucks with your metabolism and overall health.

Reverse dieting is one approach for transitioning from an extreme cut, to maintenance or bulking: Instead of just pigging out the day after your bodybuilding show, you might rather slowly increase the amount of food you eat as you find your maintenance calories again.

This idea spawned the current trend of influencers pitching reverse dieting as the cure for all your diet-related complaints. But it doesn’t work that way.

The science behind reverse dieting

Some of the claims you’ll hear from thin women flexing their abs on TikTok, and from the bodybuilders saying to just trust them, bro, are true. Among them:

  • Your metabolism adapts to dieting, so over time you have to eat less and less food to keep losing weight (this is a known thing).
  • After dieting a long time, you may be eating a miserably low number of calories.
  • Eating more food will allow your body to stop being so stingy with the calories, and can increase the number of calories your body burns.
  • After increasing your calories, someday you may be able to lose weight again while eating more food than when you were in the depths of your diet.

There are also a number of untruths and half-truths that come up. You may hear that increasing your calories too fast after a diet will make your body pack on fat, or that you can add 1,000 calories and still be losing weight, or something something hormones something cortisol. (Scroll long enough on fitness TikTok and somebody will explain that all your problems are due to cortisol. Take a drink.)

In any case, this is where “reverse dieting” comes in. Supposedly the cure to all of these ills is simply that you need to add 50 to 100 calories to your diet each week. The process is slow and requires patience, but stick to it and you too could look like this girl (imagine me moving my head to point at the before-and-after photos I’ve greenscreened behind me) on 2,400 calories instead of 1,200.

So what’s actually true about reverse dieting, and why is everybody so into it? Let’s take a closer look.

When it goes right, “reverse dieting” is just “not dieting” but with more rules

After reading all of those bullet points above, you might think, OK, so why not just stop dieting? You’ll get to eat more food, your body will burn more calories, and from there you can either diet again or—crazy idea here—just not diet anymore. Heck, you could give gaining weight a try.

And that is, in fact, the real answer. Just stop dieting. The world will not end. You can eat food again, and you will be fine. So why reverse diet?

As Eric Trexler, a nutrition and metabolism researcher, put it herethe original reverse dieters’ goal was to smoothly transition from a calorie deficit, to maintenance, to their first bulk after a bodybuilding contest without gaining any more fat than they needed to. One problem with this approach is that after bodybuilders diet that hard, they need to regain fat. You can’t stay dangerously lean forever, and that’s true whether you’re a meathead or a TikTok girlie.

On social media, reverse dieting is often described as a way of continuing to diet while eating more calories. It’s true that if you’re in a 500 calorie deficit and you’re only adding 50 calories a week, you’ll continue to be in a deficit for a very long time—10 weeks, at that rate. Trexler notes that “this would serve only to delay even the most basic and immediate aspects of recovery, and make [the dieter’s] life unnecessarily difficult.”

Reverse dieting is not a cure for chronic dieting

There are two things going on here, I think. One is relatively harmless. Land’s say you’ve been on a diet and you’re ready to start gaining weight. Instead of eating an extra 1000 calories each day (to go from a 500 calorie deficit to a 500 calorie surplus), you can eat an extra few hundred this week, and add a few hundred more next week, and so on. You’ll be less surprised by changes in your weight (eating more food means there’s more food in your belly, so the scale might tick up a bit just from that) and it may be easier to figure out approximately how many calories you should eat going forward.

But that’s not how it’s being described on social media. Thin women are telling chronic dieters that they can eat more food while continuing to be very thin, if only they follow a strict reverse dieting protocol. But the strictness and the expectations can be damaging on their own.

For an extreme example, check out this video from a registered dietitian and eating disorder specialist. She describes a woman who was getting help for eating disorder recovery. The woman had such a low body weight, with associated health issues, that the dietitian says she “needs[ed] to gain weight immediately.” But instead of following guidance from her care team that would have her gaining a pound a week, she secretly put herself on a reverse diet protocol. By adding just 50 calories each week to the too-low amount she was already eating, it took her three months to gain a whole pound of body mass—basically delaying her recovery by three months.

And here’s where I think we need to take a closer look at why reverse dieting posts are so popular in corners of social media that are focused on weight loss. While eating more sounds healthier—it’s a good start!—following a strict reverse diet is just another way of restricting.

Reverse dieting is sometimes just a way to restrict more

Let’s say, as in many of the examples on TikTok, that you are somebody currently eating 1,200 calories (officially a starvation diet) and no longer losing weight. Even if you are a small woman who never exercises—maybe because you don’t have the energy?—a healthy amount of daily calories will likely be 1,600 or more. So you’re supposed to eat 1,250 next week? And then 1,300 the week after that? At that rate, it would take eight weeks to get you up to the number that should be mere maintenance for you. Even if you don’t have an eating disorder, you’re creating the same problem for yourself as the ED patient in the dietitian’s case study.

What’s even more concerning to me is that 50 or even 100 calories is an extremely precise amount. If I’m aiming to eat 2,000 calories a day, maybe some days I’ll have 1,950 and some days I’ll have 2,100. Over time it balances out. But if you’re trying to hit exactly 1,850 and not 1,900 (because 1,900 is next week’s target) you’ll have to track your food meticulously. This is the kind of lifestyle where you’ll be weighing your toast before and after you spread the peanut butter, and you won’t want to eat at a restaurant, because how many calories are in each menu item? What if they’re heavy handed with the sauce?

In my scroll through #reversedieting TikTok, I found women saying that they had to miss out on family meals and deal with concern from their friends during their reverse diet. Clearly, they have not taken a step very far out of diet-land. For these folks, it actually seems like the “reverse” is essentially a way of extending their diet. You could be eating at maintenance for those eight weeks, but you’re restricting instead. And then what? Reverse dieting is often described as a way of increasing your calorie burn so you can diet again.

Even when the influencers show themselves gaining muscle and eating genuinely healthy numbers of calories (assuming that the numbers they cite are true), it’s still all couched in language around leanness and thinness, and features photos of their abs. Prioritizing leanness even while gaining muscle is some backwards-ass shit. It’s okay to not be able to see your abs while you are trying to make yourself bigger. As strongman JF Caron famously put it, “abs is not a thing of power. Is just a sign you don’t eat enough.”

MrBeast Curing 1K Blind Folks On YouTube Isn’t The Real Problem

Oh, that’s what was in the case?
screenshot: MrBeast / Kotaku

YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson has sparked an interesting bit of discourse online because of his latest video. Maybe this is the fate of a content creator when they become, as in MrBeast’s case, the “King of YouTube.” However, the ire that the feel-good creator has drawn out is, while accurate in critique, completely misguided in the direction.

Read More: YouTube’s Most-Subscribed King Is Now MrBeast, Not PewDiePie

With some 131 million subscribers on Google’s video-sharing platform—and millions more across TikTok and Twitter—MrBeast has become the new “King of YouTube” as of November 2022, surpassing even the astronomical subscriber numbers once held by creator Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg. Spend enough time on the site and, regardless of whether the algorithm has your number or not, it’s possible a MrBeast video will appear on your Home page. And even if it doesn’t, his videos garner millions of views, showing up in the Trending pages across categories such as the “Now” and “Gaming” sections. And with that many eyes comes nearly as many comments and thoughts.

This is exactly what happened with MrBeast’s latest video. Uploaded on January 28, the video, titled “1,000 Blind People See For The First Time,” has already racked up more than 62 million views. It’s third on YouTube’s Trending page at the time of this writing—and for good reason! Re-read that title. The dude helped people get their vision back. “In this video, we’re curing 1,000 people’s blindness,” MrBeast says at the start of the exactly eight-minute-long video. “It’s gonna be crazy.”

MrBeast

Crazy was right! As MrBeast and an unnamed surgeon in the video explained, the folks chosen for the “10-minute surgery” seem to have a form of cataracts, which is a clouding of the normally clear eye lens. Regardless of age, the protein in the eyes can break down and clump together, creating that blurriness some people experience. By using a “tiny vacuum to suck up the clouded lens and replace it with an artificial one,” known as an intraocular lens, folks are able to see again. And MrBeast’s video makes it a point to illustrate just how life-changing this “simple surgery” is. He gifts people $10,000 as they roll on the ground and, in some cases, cry through clearer, saltier eyes. I mean, MrBeast gave one patient a Tesla and another $50,000 towards college after the successful procedure. Hell, MrBeast even took the surgical operation abroad, helping blind folks in Brazil, Honduras, and Mexico because “nearly half of the population with curable blindness doesn’t have access to this surgery.” To say it’s heartwarming is an understatement.

While many folks online applaud what MrBeast has done with this particular video, myself included, not everyone is happy with his philanthropy. The main crux of the criticism is he’s exploiting disabled folks for nail and, ultimately, income. Because he’s doing charity work, folks say that MrBeast shouldn’t try to capitalize on that work by creating content that generates more eyeballs on him. He should be doing this in secret, the consensus goes, not blasting it everywhere.

But that completely misses the point. As some have pointed out online, including streamer Hasan “Hasanabi” Piker, the real issue isn’t MrBeast’s philanthropy but rather the pay-walled access to a simple surgery that could have healthy, long-lasting, positive effects on an individual’s eyesight. Consider that, according to the nonprofit organization MyVision.org, the average cost of cataract surgery in the US is anywhere between $3,500 and $7,000 per eye. That’s not including any sort of insurance benefits, which, as someone with the often-uninsured eye condition called keratoconus, I know means folks could be saddled with a hospital bill in the tens of thousands of dollars. If anything, MrBeast’s tear-jerking video is an indictment of our failing, ultra-capitalist healthcare system. The fault shouldn’t be with MrBeast. It should be with Big Pharma.

MrBeast is aware of that, asking on Twitter why don’t “governments step in and help.” He seems to have internalized some of the criticism, though, tweeting that folks on the Bird App are mad because he’s helping others with his money, something he acknowledges people expect from the wealthy. Hey even polled his followers about voting for him if he ran for president, with nearly 70 percent saying “Yes.” Clearly, people enjoy what MrBeast does with the money he makes from YouTube.

Kotaku reached out to MrBeast for comment.

Further, recording his philanthropic works and sharing them on YouTube where they can rack up millions of views likely funds MrBeast’s charitable actions. While relying on the wealth of a single person is nowhere near ideal, it’s a temporary bandaid on a fundamental problem with wealth distribution as our publicly funded institutions, such as libraries and schools, are extremely underserved and grossly underfunded thanks to government inaction and pathetic legislation . It’s extremely frustrating, especially since there are ways the broken system could be fixed to benefit more people than it currently does.

At the end of the day, though, the real issue here is capitalism. Because everything’s for profit, there’s no way for anyone to do anything when money’s on the line. Even if MrBeast were to become the president in some alternate reality, until we uncouple our society from the ills of capitalism, until we learn to do things simply because it’s the right thing to do and not because it’ll generate views and revenue, nothing will change. MrBeast isn’t infallible, and criticizing either him or his philanthropic efforts is totally fine. But we should just make sure we’re criticizing the right thing, and in this instance, what deserves ire is our dumb, privatized, for-profit healthcare system.

Influencer shares recipe for ‘low calorie fluff bowl’

Dessert that won’t ruin your diet! Influencer shares recipe for viral 200-calorie fluff bowl – and you need just four ingredients

An influencer has shared a recipe for a ‘low calorie fluff bowl’ to satisfy a sweet tooth in the evenings – and you only need four ingredients to make it.

British fitness TikToker Hayden Rolfe went viral with his delightful-looking, creamy dessert bowl, racking up more than 2.5 million views.

All you need to achieve the voluminous, velvety treat is to mix 50ml of unsweetended almond milk, with 150g of frozen strawberries, a handful of ice and a scoop of protein powder in a food processor for five minutes.

Hayden recommended topping it with a sprinkle of your favorite cereal for added crunch.

Hayden says the whole bowl is under 200 calories, making for a perfect evening treat to satisfy a craving.

However, commenters appeared torn, with some excited to sample the snack, whereas others claimed almond milk ‘tastes like death’.

‘Oh I need to save this video,’ one poster gushed.

‘Can’t wait to try this out,’ another added. ‘Thank you.’

Elsewhere, snackers questioned Hayden’s methods, wondering whether the lush texture was down to his kitchen gadgets or products.

‘Do you think it’s the food processor that makes it fluffy?’ someone asked. ‘When I do this in my Vitamix it’s nice but doesn’t fluff.’

It’s worth noting, however, that putting ice in the food processor is not usually recommended because it can dull the blades – and recipes with ice are usually a task for the blender.

A comment also wondered: ‘Which protein are you using? I think some work better than others. Yours looks great.’

One sampler had a whole new twist on the recipe altogether, making a similar concoction in a CREAMi ice cream maker.

However, not everyone was as enchanted by the fruity pink delight.

‘Looks like that stuff everyone always accuses Macdonald’s of making their nuggets out of,’ one concerned foodie wrote.

‘And then..you regret the decision, throw it away and go buy ice cream,’ another added.

A third remarked: ‘Me eating a 100g Toblerone bar in one sitting atm.’

Hayden has more than 26,600 followers on TikTok and, alongside Ryan Smith, runs Online Nutritional Education (ONE), which aims to help guide people on weight loss and fitness goals in a healthy and sustainable way.

NeNe Leakes insists her son Brentt, 23, is not gay after TikTok video suggested he had just come out

NeNe Leakes insists her son Brentt, 23, is not gay after TikTok video suggested he had just come out

NeNe Leakes cleared up questions about her son Brentt after he posted a TikTok video suggesting he had just come out as gay.

Brentt, 23, who recently unveiled his 100 pound weight loss, took part in the ‘If I miss, I’m gay’ TikTok trend which saw him shoot a wad of papers into a trash bin – and miss.

After receiving numerous phone calls from friends about the video, NeNe insisted on The Breakfast Club that her son was not gay.

‘Brentt is not gay’: NeNe Leakes cleared up questions about her son Brentt after he posted a TikTok video suggesting he had just come out as gay

‘I was out of town, and I get all these text messages, “Oh my God, Brentt came out, he’s gay!” I was like “he is!?”‘ she said, laughing.

‘Brentt is not gay,’ she continued. ‘He did some popular TikTok trend and everybody is calling us up about if he’s gay or not. Is Brent gay? I don’t know…’

‘Oh so it’s not true, he didn’t come out?’ one of the hosts asked.

‘Well, not to my knowledge. He called me up and he was like, “Mom, everybody’s asking me if I’m gay because I did this TikTok video thing.” And I said it’s okay! If you are gay, it’s fine by me. And he was like, “Okay I’m not gay mom.”‘

NeNe said she didn’t know what the ‘big deal’ was after receiving numerous calls from friends about her son’s video.

‘And then, just all my friends were calling him and calling me, concerned if he’s gay or not. I didn’t really know what’s the big deal!’

‘I don’t need to ask are you gay, what I like to say is to people is, “You know your happiness is the most important thing.” Right? So whatever makes you happy. If my son today said that he was gay, I am 100% okay with it!

‘It would almost be like he said, “Do you want some tea?” It would mean absolutely nothing to me. I believe that your happiness is the most important thing.’

Brentt posted video of his mother addressing the video to his Instagram Stories, along with a screen grab of him responding to the clip with numerous laughing crying emojis.

The original video was posted Saturday by Brentt and captioned ‘Damn #viral #fyp.’ Madonna also sparked confusion when she took part in the same TikTok trend back in October.

The video comes after Brentt unveiled his impressive 100-pound weight loss, four months after suffering a terrifying stroke.

After his health scare last fall, the star shared an inspiring before-and-after photo of himself, in which he looked noticeably trimmer.

‘Focus on you until the focus is you. #100poundsdown,’ the youngest child of NeNe and her late husband Gregg Leakes captioned his slideshow.

Fired Google worker Nicole Tsai’s ‘day in the life’ TikTok

A fired Google employee’s emotion-wracked “day in the life” video on TikTok went viral as it captured her heartbreak after she found out she was one of 12,000 workers laid off by the tech giant earlier this week.

Nicole Tsai, a Southern California-based TikTok “vlogger,” breaks down in tears in the video as she narrates “a day in my life getting laid off at Google.”

“So I woke up to this really ominous text from my boss and I honestly had no idea what it was going to be about so I called her the minute I woke up and saw this,” Tsai says in the 90-second clip uploaded Sunday , which has been viewed more than 4.6 million times by TikTok users as of Friday.

She posted a screenshot of the text message which read: “Hey Nicole feel free to give me a call.”

Tsai says in the clip that she was told by her boss to “check the news and my email.”

When Tsai tried to log in to her work email and calendar, she was met with a message that read: “You don’t have access.”

Tsai’s clip then posted an image of her wiping away tears as she says: “I called my boss back and we just sobbed over the phone because she was also finding out about my layoff for the first time today, too.”

Tsai wipes away tears as she learns she is denied access to her work email.

The video then shows screenshots of text messages that Tsai sent and received to people on her team and others within the company who were also told that they were out of a job.

Tsai echoes a similar complaint made by laid-off employees who have been quoted in media reports as saying that the decision over who to fire was “not performance-based.”

She says she logged on to LinkedIn and noticed that there were others “in the same boat” as her who were also laid off. The experience of logging in to LinkedIn and reading about others being laid off was “not great for my mental health,” she says.

“I spent so much of the day crying that I just felt so tired from being sad,” Tsai says. So she used her annual pass to Disneyland and headed over to the theme park to “eat my feelings.”

Tsai relays how she gorged on two cinnamon churros, a teriyaki turkey leg, a rice crispy, and a corn dog.

“I don’t really know what’s next for me but I’ll be vlogging my journey and posting more content about it,” she says.

Before getting the ax, Tsai had posted regular “day in the life” videos for Google, which have become trendy among tech employees in recent years.

Tsai also shared screenshots of text messages with colleagues who were also affected.

The Post has sought comment from Google.

During a tense all-hands meeting earlier this week, Google CEO Sundar Pichai was bombarded with questions from anxious staffers who feared more layoffs were afoot.

Pichai denied that the layoffs were done randomly and urged his charges to stay focused on their jobs as the company navigates difficult economic terrain that has forced other tech giants to cull workers.

“I understand you are worried about what comes next for your work,” Pichai said.

Pichai acknowledged that it was “also very sad for the loss of some really good colleagues across the company.”

“For those of you outside the US, the delay in being able to make and communicate decisions about roles in your region is undoubtedly causing anxiety,” the CEO said.

Other tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Twitter, Meta, and Snap have also laid off large numbers of employees in recent months.

Woman discovers she had blood clots in her brain and a stroke after breakup triggered migraine

A woman has opened up about how crying over a breakup triggered a migraine that led doctors to discover two blood clots in her brain, saying she unknowingly had a minor stroke the week before and could have died.

Liv, 24, from Texas, shared an abbreviated version of her shocking story in a now-viral video that has been viewed more than 486,000 times on TikTok, where she uses the handle @bake_you_acake.

‘One time I cried so hard from a broken heart, it gave me a migraine that lasted two weeks and actually resulted in me having a stroke at the age of 20,’ she wrote in the on-screen text.

She explained that no one believed that she had suffered a stroke until she fainted and was taken to the hospital for a CT scan.

‘I had two blood clots on a major vein in my brain, and my doctor said he was shocked I didn’t have a major stroke and die due to the placement of them…all [because] a boy didn’t love me back,’ she concluded.

Liv clarified in a follow-up video that she ‘did not end up in the hospital for a broken heart,’ saying doctors think her birth control had caused the blood clots and subsequent stroke.

‘Yes, the crying from the breakup led to the migraine, but they think that the blood clot stuff had been going on for a while,’ she explained. ‘I just didn’t know about it.’

A transient ischemic attack (TIA), often called a ministroke, is caused by a temporary blockage in blood flow to the brain.

It differs from a full-blown stroke in that its effects are short-lived. Typically, these strokes last a few minutes and do not leave behind permanent damage.

Liv, who was a student at Texas A&M University at the time, recalled how she ‘cried so much’ after her breakup that her ‘head started hurting really bad’ and the pain wouldn’t go away.

She went to urgent care and was given pain medicine, but it didn’t do anything to relieve her constant migraine.

Another week went by, and she was at her friend’s house for dinner when it suddenly felt like everything was in slow-motion, as if she was under a strobe light.

‘I remember being like, “Oh god, my head is just like really killing me,”‘ she said.

Liv drove home and suddenly found herself in Bryan, Texas, a small town outside of College Station, where her school’s campus is located.

‘I didn’t know where I was. I didn’t know my name. I had a major panic attack. I freaked out for like two minutes, and then I snapped out of it,’ she said. ‘Literally, this whole side of my body felt like it was sagging, but it wasn’t. I looked in the mirror. There was nothing, but it just felt heavy, like my cheeks and everything.’

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF A MINISTROKE?

A transient ischemic attack (TIA) involves a temporary lack of blood flow to the brain, which causes momentary dizziness, confusion, tingling, and numbness in the arms.

You should call 911 if you suspect you are suffering from a TIA.

Symptoms include:

  • vision changes
  • dysphasia (speaking disorder)
  • confusion
  • balance issues
  • tingling
  • an altered level of consciousness
  • dizziness
  • passing out
  • an abnormal sense of taste
  • an abnormal sense of smell
  • or numbness on just one side of the body or face, determined by the location of the weakness of the blood clot in the brain

Liv texted her ex and told him that she thought she ‘just had a stroke,’ but he convinced her that she was fine. When she went home the following week, her doctor gave her medicine to treat her migraine, but it still wouldn’t go away.

‘I remember I was just crying, like sobbing crying in my bed, and my dad came in the room and was like, “Are you just f**king depressed?”‘ she explained. ‘And I was like, “No, my head hurts.”‘

Liv had already missed two weeks of school at this point, and her father told her that she need to go back to College Station or she was going to fail all of her classes.

However, when she went downstairs, she almost faded. That’s when he took her to the emergency room, and she learned she had been right about everything.

‘The doctor was so casual,’ she said. ‘He was like, “Oh, yeah, I know what the problem is. You have two blood clots in your brain on a major vein…you had a minor stroke.”‘

Liv believes the blood clots and stroke were caused by her birth control, but no one knows for sure.

Estrogen in birth control pills has been known to cause blood clots that can lead to stroke, and women who take oral contraceptives are twice as likely to suffer from a stroke than their counterparts who do not take them.

However, it’s important to note that the population size is already so small that a doubled risk does not mean the risk is high, especially among women without other risk factors such as an addiction to cigarette smoking and a history of hypertension.

‘The whole thing was weird. They still have no idea what caused it,’ Liv explained. ‘They put me on blood thinners — shout out Xarelto — and after that, I literally did not get migraines. So they think it could have been happening my whole entire life, and I had no idea.’

Liv said the ‘crazy’ thing was that she went on birth control when she was 15 to stop her migraines, but the oral contraceptive only made them worse.

She added that she was supposed to have surgery to remove the blood clots, which have gotten much smaller thanks to the blood thinners, but then the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

‘So I’m still trying to figure that out,’ she said.
